A Spiritual Journey Through Art Painting, Drawing & Writing
My Journey
A peripatetic. I grew up on the Mississippi river in Illinois; studied at St. Olaf College in Minnesota; worked and lived in Japan, New Jersey, California, and Washington. I now call Hancock, Maine my home.
I am always creating in my day…in painting, needlepoint, song, poetry and culinary adventures.
Painting requires a lot of patience but for me time melts away. In the pull and push of the process, there is a meditation and a prayer. It has given me joy, curiosity and connection to a deeper sense of being in the world.
In Gratitude
Everyone should have a teacher who recognizes a student’s unique gifts. For me, it was Mr. Van Houten at Rock Island High School in Illinois. Since then, there have been many people who have helped me along the way: Cecilia Cooney Wicket and Philip Howe, who tutored me in Seattle; and the teachers and my fellow artists at Maine College of Art (MECA), who presently encourage and guide my work.
I hope my art brings a connection between the spiritual and external worlds of my subjects and allows you to experience something you may not have seen before. I invite you, dear viewer, to join me on this journey!
